CrossFit Fittest in Cape Town Online Qualifiers will take place between the 1-11th of November 2018. 3 Online Q-WOD’s will be released on the following dates (all at 12.00 SA-time):
FiCT 2019 Q-WOD 1: Thursday 1st of November
FiCT 2019 Q-WOD 2: Friday 2nd of November
FiCT 2019 Q-WOD 3: Saturday 3rd of November
The athletes will have until 23:59 (SA-Time) Sunday the 11th of November 2018 to register and fully submit their scores. We recommend you to submit your scores early rather than late to avoid disappointment as no submissions will be accepted past the deadline.
Anyone looking at qualifying for the Individual Division MUST submit a video with your scores - one video each for all 3 Q-WODs.
If you are choosing to be able to qualify for the Individual Division when registering you will not be able to submit scores without providing a valid video link to each Q-WOD.
When registering you’ll get the option to choose if you are “team only” and if so you would only be required to submit video links based on request - FiCT Online Judges Team will request a minimum of ONE video for each Team Athlete in a qualified team and as such you must film all your Q-WOD’s even if you are not aiming to qualify individually.
VIDEO REQUIREMENTS - each video must contain:
Each Online Q-WOD will have a specific requirement in terms of camera angle which will be specified in the written description of each Q-WOD. We once again highly recommend you to use our “Official Timer Partner” the WODProof app as that will make it easy for you to chose which WOD you are submitting and other standards will be easier to follow.
QUALIFICATION PROCESS INDIVIDUALS:
The CrossFit Fittest in Cape Town 2019 Online Qualifier aims to find the top ranked 20 Female and top ranked 20 Male athletes to invite them to the Main Event. At the end of the Qualifier period the qualified athletes will after a video review be invited to register for CrossFit Fittest in Cape Town 2019 Main Event - the registration fee for the Main Event will be R1.500 (approx $100) and the athletes will be given 72 hours to accept their invitation.
NB: CrossFit Fittest in Cape Town reserves the right to invite an additional 4 Female & 4 Male athletes at their own discretion.
QUALIFICATION PROCESS TEAMS:
The CrossFit Fittest in Cape Town 2019 Online Qualifier aims to find the top ranked 100 Teams to invite them to the Main Event. The Team Division will consist of both “Super Teams” and “Affiliate Teams” competing in the “FiCT Community Series” and at the end of the Qualifier Period, after a video review on requested videos,
Each Affiliate Team will have their top 2 Female & 2 Male athletes total ranking deciding their ranking on the Team Leaderboard. As an example:
Female Athlete 1: Ranked 30th
Female Athlete 2: Ranked 31st
Male Athlete 1: Ranked 40th
Male Athlete 2: Ranked 50th
In this example the team’s TOTAL RANKING SCORE would be 151p (30+31+40+50) and the teams will be ranked on the leaderboard according to LOWEST TOTAL RANKING SCORE being ranked first etc.
After the ranking is initially set CrossFit Fittest in Cape Town will invite teams according to a 3 wave system:
WAVE 1 - Top 50: The top 50 ranked teams (after any registered Individual athletes have been deducted from the roster) will be invited to register a Team for CrossFit Fittest in Cape Town 2019 Main Event.
Registration fee is R4.000 (approx $270) per team and the team will have 72 hours to accept their invite before it goes to the next in line.
WAVE 2 - Top 75: After this any team now registered for the Main Event will have their top two ranked female and top two ranked male athletes deducted from the leaderboard and as such be re-ranked with their next two in line ranked athletes (3rd and 4th in the Affilaite Teams). At this stage CrossFit Fittest in Cape Town will invite the now highest ranked teams to fill up to a total of 75 registered teams.
If for instance all 50 teams in the first wave have accepted their invitation and registered, we would invite the now top 25 ranked teams.
WAVE 3 - Top 100: We will now follow the same procedure as before and deduct the top athletes in any newly registered teams to once again rerank the leaderboard and at this stage CrossFit Fittest in Cape Town will invite the now highest ranked teams to fill up to a total of 100 registered teams.
If for instance a total of 70 teams in the first & second wave have accepted their invitation and registered, we would invite the now top 30 ranked teams.
This entire system is designed to let Super Teams and Affiliate Teams compete in a fair Online Qualifier, and then also allow boxes to stand a chance to qualify more than one team if they have that depth in their boxes.
Fittest in Cape Town has always been a competition by the community, for the community - and as such we aim to have a broad representation from the African CrossFit boxes competing alongside international Super Teams.
SUBSTITUTIONS SUPER TEAMS:
Please note that Super Teams can ONLY consist of the 4 athletes registered for the team and after the deadline of registration (11th of November 2018) and the only substitutions allowed would be if a member of a Super Team have qualified and registered as an Individual for CrossFit Fittest in Cape Town 2019 Main Event.
If so the athlete can only be replaced with another athlete that have registered Individually and completed at least ONE of the Online Qualifier WOD’s - this new athlete can NOT be registered for ANY other team during the season but must if so be registered for Individual qualification only.
SUBSTITUTIONS AFFILIATE TEAMS:
Affiliate Teams are allowed to substitute athletes at any point up until the final registration before the CrossFit Fittest in Cape Town 2019 Main Event. The final teams can however only consist of athletes that were registered and completed at least ONE of the Online Qualifier WOD’s - an athlete can only represent ONE team during the FiCT-season and MUST be registered for the Affiliates Team Roster before the registration deadline (11th of November 2018) to be eligible to represent the team at the main event.
NB: CrossFit Fittest in Cape Town reserves the right to invite an additional 20 teams at their own discretion.
